MEDITATION: This is true meditation....

When we pay attention, whatever we are doing...is transformed and becomes a part of our spiritual path. We begin to notice details and textures that we never noticed before' everyday life becomes clearer, sharper, and at the same time more spacious. - Rick Fields

MEDITATION: the act or process of spending time in quiet thought : the act or process of meditating

Good day, Team.

Meditation, we’ve all heard of it. We summon up visuals of a person sitting erect, in a yoga like position on a rug, or in front of a burning candle, or a hundred burning candles, others with their fingers held delicately in various positions, and still others who hold a specific tongue posture while humming “OHM...”

I have to admit, I have never been a fan of meditation for the exact reasons listed above. I’m not saying this doesn’t work for people. I have found it simply doesn’t work for me.

THE FIVE STAGES OF BRAIN ACTIVIT

Thank you to : http://www.finerminds.com/mind-power/brain-waves/

1. Beta (14-40Hz) — The waking consciousness and reasoning wave

Beta brain waves are associated with normal waking consciousness and a heightened state of alertness, logic and critical reasoning. While Beta brain waves are important for effective functioning throughout the day, they also can translate into stress, anxiety and restlessness. The voice of Beta can be described as being that nagging little inner critic that gets louder the higher you go into range. Therefore, with a majority of adults operate at Beta; it’s little surprise that stress is today’s most common health problem.

2. Alpha (7.5-14Hz) — the deep relaxation wave
Alpha brain waves are present in deep relaxation and usually when the eyes are closed, when you’re slipping into a lovely daydream or during light meditation. It is an optimal time to program the mind for success and it also heightens your imagination, visualization, memory, learning and concentration. It is the gateway to your subconscious mind and lies at the base of your conscious awareness. The voice of Alpha is your intuition, which becomes clearer and more profound the closer you get to 7.5Hz.

3. Theta (4-7.5Hz) — the light meditation and sleeping wave
Theta brain waves are present during deep meditation and light sleep, including the all-important REM dream state. It is the realm of your subconsciousness and only experienced momentarily as you drift off to sleep from Alpha and wake from deep sleep (from Delta). It is said that a sense of deep spiritual connection and unity with the universe can be experienced at Theta. Your mind’s most deep- seated programs are at Theta and it is where you experience vivid visualizations, great inspiration, profound creativity and exceptional insight. Unlike your other brain waves, the elusive voice of Theta is a silent voice. It is at the Alpha-Theta border, from 7Hz to 8Hz, where the optimal range for visualization, mind programming and using the creative power of your mind begins. It’s the mental state which you consciously create your reality. At this frequency, you are conscious of your surroundings however your body is in deep relaxation.

4. Delta (0.5-4Hz) — the deep sleep wave
The Delta frequency is the slowest of the frequencies and is experienced in deep, dreamless sleep and in very deep, transcendental meditation where awareness is fully detached. Delta is the realm of your unconscious mind, and the gateway to the universal mind and the collective unconscious, where information received is otherwise unavailable at the conscious level. Among many things, deep sleep is important for the healing process — as it’s linked with deep healing and regeneration. Hence, not having enough deep sleep is detrimental to your health in more ways than one.

5. Gamma (above 40Hz) – The Insight Wave
This range is the most recently discovered and is the fastest frequency at above 40Hz. While little is known about this state of mind, initial research shows Gamma waves are associated with bursts of insight and high-level information processing.

As one can clearly gather from reading the summaries of each of these actions of the brain, each one is important. Having an overall balance is the ideal, however, many people will find they have two or three areas where their brain has been conditioned to function and operate on.

BETA
I say conditioned, because with today’s fast paced, one click away, society, it is easy for many to fall prey to Beta wave function far too much of the time.

Don’t get me wrong, Beta is the place to be to get things done in a hurry..... as it’s also the foundation for ‘Fight or Flight’ mode, anxiety, and panic attacks.

Ask any fireman, emergency room personnel, active military such as Spec Ops, police, and so forth, they might not describe their ability to jet off and fire off rapid precise calculations as being in ‘Beta’, but this frequency of brain waves serves its purpose well.

It’s when one just can’t seem to turn it off, that it begins to wear on the individual. It will typically show itself through aging, heart problems, sleep issues, weight gain, and so forth.

This is when it is important to be able to tone down or cool off, the frequency of the brain to the Alpha state. Alpha is what puts a person into Zombie mode in front of their television, regardless of age. Alpha is a place where any input, whether visually or verbally, or now-a-days, frequency related coming from devices such as iPhones, iPads, laptops, desk tops, cell towers, etc., can be translated into information and stored securely within that person’s subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is the grass roots of decision making.

In regards to frequency, please, realize frequencies carry information. One cannot feel this ‘information’ coming into the subconscious, smell it, taste it, see it, or hear it (at least most people do not hear it, just as most people do not hear a dog whistle), but it is there, and people have no clue what information is being downloaded directly to one’s subconscious.

Why do I mention this? Because people are programmed and they do not even know it. In fact, many would get outright defensive if you were to inform them they have been programmed. Television programs and everything in between such as commercials, etc., are indeed programming, whether one likes it or not, realizes it or not, the ‘box’, ‘flat screen’, has been working its magic for a mighty long time.

So, I suggest, turning off the television, and putting all the technological gadgets in another room, if you are intending to meditate.

Would you not rather program your own brain?

ALPHA
The Chinese have been aware of the importance of Alpha brain waves in the care of their people as a healing highway for hundreds of years. It is not uncommon to find a Sun Ancon Chi Machine in 90% off Chinese doctors offices. They have their patient use the machine for 3-5 minutes when they arrive to relax them before doing acupuncture and/or massage, or chiropractics, etc.

The Chi Machine quickly puts one into Alpha, where one can design and program themselves, their desires, and so forth.

Sadly, for many here in the US, alcohol, marijuana, prescription drugs and over the counter drugs are used to the same end, without the individual actually
understanding the science behind their actions. They just know it puts them in a
different state of mind.

However, there are many, many others who understand the art and importance to one’s health, longevity, stress levels, and the ability to create their life, who have mastered the art of not only Alpha, but Theta, as well.

THETA
Theta is where the deep healing occurs. Many a man would like to become a firefighter, doctor, lawyer, etc., due to the hours and/or income, but they must understand, these occupations, and others similar in lifestyle demands, actually shorten ones life span by the continual high stress, long hours, unpredictable hours, constant interrupted sleep, and so on.

If you are one who is waking up constantly throughout the night, try to take a power nap during the day, or catch up on sleep on the weekends, and be sure to take both restorative vacations, and play vacations to help balance things out.

New mom’s go through this many times. A child will pass through the waking at night phase, a career is a whole nother story, as lack of solid Theta on a consistent basis leads to high(er), cortisol levels, which in turn, lowers testosterone levels, and tends to pack on some belly fat.

These three stages: Beta, Alpha, and Theta are all I wish to discuss today, as it is plenty to think about and work on as homework throughout the week.

Each stage plays an important part in your health, and fitness level, not to mention, creating the life you desire.

WHY IS MEDITATION SO HARD TO DO?
  1. For one, many think of it as an ‘act’, a job to be done and checked off their ‘to- do’ list. Not so.
  2. For many, the monkey brain is hard to turn off. While ‘trying’ to meditate, one is thinking about picking up little Johnny, the dryer just buzzed to let you know the laundry is dry, oh yeah, and the trash can needs to be at the curb soon because it’s trash day and the new trash man arrives by 7:30 a.m.
  1. For many others, the analytical brain keeps beckoning. Realize, the analytical brain is generally the road block between Beta and Alpha. One is busy analyzing A, B, C, ...
  2. Yet others are busy thinking about what to meditate about, or thinking about if they are doing it ‘right’.
  3. Still others have the television on in the background, or the dishwasher, radio, etc. Distractions are distractions.
No wonder mediating is so hard!!!!!

SIMPLE WAYS TO MEDITATE
  1. Create a quiet space for yourself.

  2. If you feel like laying down, lay down, just know your chances of falling asleep are much greater than if you were to sit up.

  3. If you are comfortable sitting, sit.

  4. If you are more comfortable walking around, then walk. Go outdoors
whenever possible. Who ever said there is no such thing as a walking
    meditation?

  5. Feel like soaking in a tub? Soak, perhaps, add some essential oils.

  6. Listen to relaxing music such as a 432 Hz or 528 Hz?

  7. Move all electronic devices out of the room, or area.

  8. Allow your brain to relax. This is what takes the longest and is generally the
hardest for people to do, but the more your do it, the easier it becomes, and you will find you can quiet yourself in very little time. Hmmmm. Do you realize the benefits of this alone? Stressful situation at home, at the office, in traffic, in your own head? You will learn how to quickly diffuse it, and move forward. Big, big, plus folks.

  9. Listen. Listen to surroundings without becoming attached to them, or ‘thinking’ on them.
10. Ask questions that come to your mind, you know the serious ones. Listen.

11. For many, listening to a Guided Meditation, solves many problems, as a guided meditation is like taking a walk in your head... and will lead you through the Beta, to Alpha, and so on.

WHAT’S SO GREAT ABOUT MEDITATION?

There are an array of benefits that one could easily write an entire book on, and many have, look them up.

Short answer:

Meditation is a Game Changer. It can literally change your brain, and hence, personality, success, happiness level, etc., by balancing the energy within the brain, by learning how to manage and use the various brain stages to your advantage, many have had healings, visions, profound insights, and more, manifested during their meditation. Why?

Because once a being truly ‘connects’ with that Intelligence that’s there awaiting recognition, it is pure bliss. One finds when they come out of that state, there is nothing to be angry about, they are filled with love, peace, and joy. They don’t need a new ‘toy’, habit, or fixation, as they feel whole.

Meditation is the dissolution of thoughts in eternal awareness or pure consciousness without objectification, knowing without thinking, merging finitude in infinity.

Have a wonderful day!
